Rates vary depending on the scope, length, type of edit, and turnaround time of your project. I provide a detailed quote after a brief initial consultation - there's no obligation and no guesswork. Most projects are quoted at a flat rate so you know the full cost before work begins.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a project take?
Turnaround depends on the length and complexity of the work. A short proofread may take a few days; a full structural edit of a book manuscript may take several weeks. I'll give you a clear timeline as part of your quote so you can plan accordingly.
Do you work with students and early-career researchers?
Yes. I work with researchers at all stages — from graduate students preparing a thesis for submission to senior scholars working on a monograph. If you're unsure whether your project is a good fit, just get in touch.
What file formats do you work with?
I work primarily in Microsoft Word using track changes, which is the standard for academic and professional editing. For mapping and GIS projects I work in QGIS, ArcGIS, and several web mapping platforms.
Do you offer rush turnaround?
In some cases, yes. Rush projects are subject to availability and may carry an additional fee. Reach out as early as possible and I'll let you know what's feasible.
How do I get started?
Use the contact form on this page or email michelle@boundaryeditorial.com directly. Tell me a little about your project - what it is, roughly how long it is, and when you need it done and I'll get back to you within two business days.
